Artist's Comments

Original Size: approximately 11" x 17", Medium: Acrylics

This is another Batman piece I created as a sample cover for DC Comics a while ago. Like the others of him, with this work I experimented and varied his look. I was still going for an angular, bulky look to make him seem as powerful and as menacing as possible. There are many other pieces I've done using other comic characters, but since I have quite a few of Batman (one of my favorites...), I figure I'd get a few more of them posted first!

Many Thanks, Lady Gorgon! Appreciate it!

I would like to give you personal art lessons, but I think I'd be too distracted by your looks (Compliment to ya...just being cute...with much respect!) But seriously, If you would like to start painting, I would suggest getting an basic acrylic set (some excellent, inexpensive student colors can be found at your local Aaron Brothers Art Mart, Michael's Craftshop, etc.) They also have some good beginner books there. Or you can go to your local library and find some cool painting technique books. Don't worry about 'absorbing' all of the ideas. Just have fun and experiment and you'll see what works best for you.

Thanks a bunch, Chief! I appreciate your comments very much. I draw & paint Batman somewhat differently now (I did this piece a few years ago...), but I always like to experiment and see what new interpretations I can come up with...

I love this, the colour scheme is great and so if the angle of the whole picture; I also adore Batman's strong chin~!

Many, many thanks! I figure Batman's gotta be pretty hardcore to take on crime the way he does. So I figured "Why not a strong, rock-jaw to symbolize that strength?"

Great composition. I like the 'look' you've given him, love his expression too. It's good to see an alternative to the usual predominant black present in images of Batman.

 heehee!! Woohoo!! Actually I am a step ahead of you, I bought some acrylics and started a painting(not anything great), but since Christmas is upon us, I had to take a break from it to do some ornaments...I would love to have someone show their techniques cause I learn more that way.... but lately I surprised myself and bought some how to paint type magazines and stuff, and I actually learned something ;P I did not know you can make acrylics more blendable and not dry out as fast by using certain gloss or glaze mediums, which I have not tried yet. But it is definitely neat reading about it. Now a matter of actually doing something...haahaa...LOL!! But I still have a long way to even try to get it as nice as yours!! Experimenting is the fun part!! :D Which I will definitely take that recommendation to heart!! ;)
****later possible abstract postings, heehee, from experimenting of course!! ****
